More than a principle, a daily practice.
At Mainova, we believe that the agriculture of the future is built with respect for the land, for people, and for natural cycles. That is why, at Herdade da Fonte Santa, all our decisions — from field to bottle — are guided by conscious and sustainable practices.
Purpose-driven agriculture
In our vineyards and olive groves, we follow two production methods: Integrated Production and Organic Production .

Integrated production
Integrated production is based on good agricultural practices that value the natural mechanisms of the ecosystem, minimizing the use of chemicals and reducing environmental impact. This model promotes soil balance, the well-being of local fauna and flora, and invests in efficient resource management, with continuous team training.

Organic Production
Organic production goes further by restricting the use of external factors, prioritizing resources internal to the agricultural system. We work with a high level of environmental standards, promoting biodiversity and respecting the natural cycles of the earth.
Mainova is also part of the European Living Olive Trees project, which assesses and values the positive impact.
Agriculture's focus on biodiversity — a firm step towards a regenerative and resilient model.

Clean energy and circularity
We generate some of our own energy through solar panels , reducing the carbon footprint of the winery and agricultural operations. We also have a wastewater treatment plant that allows us to reuse the water used in the winery for irrigating the olive grove and vineyard.
Packaging with a conscience

Just as we care for the land, we care about the choices we make in the packaging of our products:
Production with minimal intervention

Wine: We produce directly in our winery, with minimal human intervention, using techniques such as spontaneous fermentation, low sulfites, and gravity in filling the vats and presses, reducing energy consumption and waste.

Olive oil: It is produced in a specialized mill , with whom we collaborate closely to ensure efficient, high-quality cold extraction with lower energy consumption.
